This Master’s program aims to provide high-quality professional training in the cereal industry. It enables students to acquire a solid multidisciplinary knowledge and skillset in this field. Students will be trained both in the knowledge required for field crop selection and the latest biotechnologies. They will develop skills to ensure continuous improvement in production processes, resource management, transformation methods, and quality control.
Specific Objectives are divided into three levels:
1. Scientific Scope:
· Acquire a strong scientific background, enabling students to pursue further studies abroad.
· Develop linguistic skills and clear communication, both orally and in writing, for easy integration into an international environment.
· Master techniques related to the collection, characterization, description, conservation, exploitation, and valorization of cereals for human/animal food, environmental purposes, medicine, and pharmacology.
2. National Scope:
- Take responsibility for continuously improving cereal-based products.
3. Socio-Economic Environment:
· Equip students with tools to easily integrate into the socio-economic environment of the cereal specialty. After completing this training, students will have the decision-making mindset and strong personality necessary to thrive in the professional world. ISBB is surrounded by multiple professional environments such as OEP, CRRGC, INGC, and agri-food industries.
· Provide entrepreneurial training, allowing students to acquire the necessary skills to manage a startup.
The program lasts two years (M1 and M2) and is spread over four semesters. Three semesters focus on theoretical training (courses, practicals, and tutorials). At the end of the first year (M1), students must complete a 4-week summer internship to introduce them to professional life. The final semester (S4) will involve a 4-month graduation project, which concludes with an internship report and a defense before a jury designated by the Master’s committee of the institution.
Internships must be completed at an agri-food company or a research facility related to the specialty.
This Master’s program trains managers or assistant managers in the cereal industry, primarily in production but also in areas like research and development, quality control laboratories, packaging, and quality assurance.
The program aims to train scientific managers with a Bac+5 level in food science, food processing, and agro-industrial transformation, preparing them for integration into agri-food companies or research entities (private or academic labs).
Graduates will be capable of:
- Mastering animal production technologies and their management while maintaining a strong focus on quality.
- Mastering cereal transformation processes from both a scientific and technological perspective.
- Identifying and analyzing technical-economic factors for different cereal-based products.
- Taking responsibility for project implementation and achieving set objectives.
- Being autonomous while also having the ability to work effectively in teams.
- Communicating efficiently and managing conflicts.
Students will acquire knowledge in plant biology, physiology, genetics, and microbiology. The learning outcomes include:
- The knowledge necessary to carry out molecular biology on plant breeding, including understanding genetic diversity, genetic markers, improving cereal yields, disease resistance, and environmental protection.
- Ability to work both in laboratories and in field settings.
- Capability to create their own project.
- Identifying the resources needed for a given project and preparing the corresponding budget.
- Demonstrating the ability to set up a continuous evaluation and improvement system for their projects.
- Proficiency in using data acquisition and analysis software with a critical mindset.
- Ability to negotiate a job contract or secure an internship in the agri-food sector.
- Ability to formulate and characterize new products and by-products from cereals.
