Presentation:
The Department of Basic and Biological Sciences (BBS) was established in 2006. It manages the common foundation for specialties in the field of exact sciences (Physics, Mathematics, etc.) and biological sciences (Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular/Cellular Biology, Microbiology, etc.). The first year is organized around a set of core courses related to the main core that provides students with a solid knowledge base, common to all specializations.
The Department of Basic and Biological Sciences also offers a License (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in the French system) in Management and Valorization of Bioresources (LGVB) with both in-person and hybrid teaching. The studies are conducted over wo semesters consisting of fundamental, methodological, optional and transversal units.
Training Objective:
The Licence in Management and Valorization of Bioresources (LMVB) is a program in the field of applied ecology. Its goal is to train professionals in environmental management.
The areas of application for environmental professionals are numerous:
- Water purification
- Water valorization
- Management and valorization of fishery bioresources
- Wildlife management
- Valorization of biomolecules
- Preservation of natural resources (water, air, soil, bioresources and energy)
- Solving environmental problems by mastering the necessary technologies
Career Opportunities:
- Environmental and waste manager for local authorities
- Environmental project coordinator for local authorities
- Advisor for decision-making on environmental risks and regulations
- Environmental mission manager
- International agro-development advisor
- Risk manager
- Pollution measurement technician
- Opportunity to continue studies (Master’s, etc.) or to evolve in related professions concerned with the environment
Teaching Team:
The teaching team consists of both scientists (chemists, physicists, computer scientists, geneticists, mathematicians, biologists, etc.) and researchers in applied and fundamental sciences. The academic skills are enhanced by contributions from professionals from active creation fields and businesses where graduates will eventually integrate.
Specializations:
- Management and Valorization of Bioresources (MGV)
Organization of Studies:
- Courses: the program lasts three years, each divided into two semesters. The subjects taught focus on four main areas: Basic Sciences (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science), Biological and Environmental Sciences, as well as business culture and project management.
- Practical Activities: Practical Activities take place over two years, starting in the second year, scientific and methodological objectives to support and complement the training.
- Final Activity: A report on activities and an oral defense (End of semester6).
